Type of wine
Dry D.O.C. red, produced only in the finest vintagesGrapevine
Corvina e Corvinone 75%, Rondinella 15%, Sangiovese 10%, double selectionProduction zone
This special reserve wine is derived from a vineyard owned by the Brunelli family at San Pietro in Cariano.Type of soil
Mainly limestone over glacial drift, with lots of rocks.Training system
Trentino-type pergola with, on average, 35 year-old vines.Yield
1000 Kg/haProduction process
This special selection of Amarone is produced only in the finest vintages and in very limited quantities. It is made exclusively from the healthiest grapes that have had the best exposure to sunlight: these are carefully picked by hand between the end of September and the beginning of October. The selected bunches are placed in the drying lofts in shallow crates under rigorously controlled conditions of temperature and humidity. After a long period of drying, during which the grapes lose about 40% of their initial weight, pressing takes place. This is followed by the fermentation, which is very slow because of the cold ambient temperatures and lasts around 40 days. The wine then begins its process of maturation in new Allier oak barriques for 36 months. At the end of this period, the wine is bottled and left to rest for 12 months prior to being released.Tasting note
It displays a deep, rich, opaque ruby color. Its intense and charming bouquet reveal notes of cherries, raspberries and redcurrants, mingling with faint hints of vanilla. On the palate, it unleashes a powerful and robust structure, accompanied, though, by elegant acidity. Its finish is very long and echoes the sensations one perceived on the nose.Serving suggestions
An excellent wine for enjoying on its own or as an ideal accompaniment for grilled or stewed red meats, steak with green peppercorns, game or mature cheeses.Serving temperature
18°C (64°F), opening the bottle two hours beforehand.
